Some New Wave Evening

We pay tribute to New Wave music, that glorious genre that began in the late 1970s and finished (probably a couple of years too late) in the mid 1980s. Some of Melbourne's finest (see below) pay homage to the genre that reignited popular music again in the face of punk and mainstream rock stagnation, and continues to influence so many artists today. It sounded like the future back then, and be honest: it still does! Blondie, Kate Bush, Talking Heads, The Motels, Devo, A Flock of Seagulls...you love it all! So dig out your velvet blazer or trenchcoat, put on a Lego man red hat, experiment inappropriately with your fringe and come and worship at the altar of New Wave!

Featuring: Jane Hendry, Lonnie Mackertich, Kelly Day, Ladie Dee, Ayleen O'Hanlon, Seri Vida, Rich Davies, Rhea Caldwell, James Ellis, Pete Whelan, and more TBC!

There will be two sets of New Wave classics performed on the night. The first set will feature solo singers performing their chosen New Wave classic, 'unplugged' style with their instrument of choice. The second set will feature house band, RUNNING UP CLIFTON HILL, accompanying and electrifying singers on a New Wave tour de force!

After the performers are done, DJ Bobby Mac will spin New Wave into the wee small hours. A Once in a Lifetime kinda night, no?
